Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to secure a service provider for the provision of comprehensive waste removal services at Koedoespoort Plant, including waste minimisation, safe disposal, and housekeeping services across various depots and locations for a period of three (3) years. The aim is to ensure efficient waste management, compliance with safety and environmental standards, and cost-effective disposal solutions.

Scope

The scope encompasses:

• Provision of waste removal, minimisation, and disposal services at multiple depots and locations including Pretoria, Pyramid South, Capital Park, Blue Train Salvokop, Witbank, Nelspruit, Komatipoort, Phalaborwa, Polokwane, Lydenburg, Lephalale, Thabazimbi, Rustenburg, Ermelo, Tzaneen, Trichards, and other depots.
• Handling various waste types such as general waste, hazardous waste, industrial effluent, sludge, foundry sand, slag, shotblast sand, fluorescent tubes, effluent and sludge, brake blocks, and sewer effluent.
• Supply of receptacles including IBCs, wheelie bins, and other bins as specified.
• On-site waste separation and recycling activities, including rental of waste receptacles and onsite waste management infrastructure.
• Adhoc waste management services as requested by depots.
• Disposal of waste at designated disposal facilities with specified costs per ton or per receptacle.
• Provision of recycling rebates based on material recovery.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Provision of various waste receptacles such as 6m3 skips, IBCs, drums, and other bins, with specified quantities and types per location.
• Scheduled waste collection and disposal frequencies, including monthly, quarterly, biannual, and annual services.
• Handling of specific waste types including hazardous waste, industrial effluent, sludge, and special waste like foundry sand and fluorescent tubes.
• Use of appropriate disposal methods compliant with environmental standards.
• Supply of onsite waste separation infrastructure, including metal bins, TLB rental, and labor for waste sorting.
• Recycling activities with rebates based on recovered materials such as paper, plastics, metals, and used oils.
• Adherence to safety, environmental, and operational standards for waste handling and disposal.

Skills Requirements

The successful bidder must demonstrate:

• Experience in managing waste removal and disposal services across multiple industrial and logistical depots.
• Capability to handle hazardous and special waste streams safely and in compliance with regulations.
• Skilled personnel for onsite waste separation, handling, and recycling activities.
• Capacity to supply and manage various waste receptacles and disposal equipment.
• Knowledge of environmental legislation and safety standards related to waste management.
• Ability to provide adhoc waste management services efficiently and cost-effectively.
• Proven track record in waste recycling and rebate management.
