Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure a two-channel computerized electromyography system, including nerve conduction and evoked potential capabilities, to meet clinical and research needs at Grey’s Hospital. The system aims to enhance diagnostic accuracy, facilitate advanced neurophysiological assessments, and ensure compatibility with existing hospital infrastructure.

Scope

The scope encompasses the supply, delivery, installation, commissioning, and demonstration of a two-channel electromyography system with expandable features up to four channels. It includes hardware components such as PC, monitor, amplifiers, stimulators, software for data acquisition and analysis, and all necessary accessories. The project also covers training of hospital staff, provision of manuals, and ongoing support for maintenance and repairs.

Technical Requirements

• System Capabilities: Two (expandable to four) simultaneous recording channels for EMG, nerve conduction, and evoked potentials.
• Hardware: PC with minimum specifications (Dell Core i5, 8GB RAM, 500GB SSD), 23-inch color LCD monitor, laser printer, junction box stand, trolley, and relevant accessories.
• Software: Windows 10 64-bit compatible, capable of multi-tasking, supporting at least 8 test protocols simultaneously, with features for waveform analysis, normative data, and report generation.
• Amplifiers: Electrically isolated, with input impedance >1000 MΩ, noise level ≤0.6 μV rms, multiple filters (low and high cut), and calibration features.
• Stimulators: Synchronized dual stimulators with adjustable pulse duration (0.01 to 1 ms), stimulation rates (20-100 Hz), and remote control capability.
• Visual and Auditory Stimuli: Visual evoked potential (VEP) with pattern reversal, flash, goggles; auditory stimuli with click, tone, burst modes, and masking options.
• Safety & Compliance: Conformance to IEC 60601 standards, CE certification, and compliance with electrical safety and electromagnetic interference standards.
• Accessories & Support: Complete manuals, optional accessories, spare parts for 10+ years, and training for technical staff.

Skills Requirements

• Technical Expertise: Qualified biomedical engineers or technicians trained in the installation, calibration, maintenance, and repair of neurophysiological equipment.
• Training & Demonstration: Ability to provide comprehensive training to hospital staff, including calibration, troubleshooting, and software operation, equivalent to manufacturer’s factory training.
• Support & Maintenance: Established service and repair facilities within KwaZulu-Natal, with qualified personnel capable of responding within 24 hours.
• Documentation & Manuals: Provision of detailed user manuals, service manuals, and software support documentation.
• Evaluation & Compliance: Ability to demonstrate compliance with technical specifications and to participate in evaluation trials, including submission of samples if required.
