Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to appoint a Service Provider to perform electrical engineering work on a multi-disciplinary project involving the repair and refurbishment of the Vredefort Magistrate's Office. The scope includes addressing structural, civil, electrical, mechanical defects, upgrades, and ensuring compliance with relevant standards and legislation.

Scope

The scope encompasses:

• Provision of comprehensive electrical engineering services for the repair and refurbishment of the Magistrate's Office complex.
• Design, documentation, procurement, contract administration, inspection, and close-out of electrical works.
• Coordination with other disciplines (civil, structural, mechanical, electronic) and service providers.
• Addressing electrical repairs, upgrades, installations, and compliance with safety and environmental standards.
• Inclusion of targeted procurement and socio-economic goals.

The project involves activities such as repairs to electrical installations, lighting, power systems, security systems, and ensuring accessibility and safety standards are met.

Technical Requirements

• Electrical engineering services must be undertaken by registered professional electrical engineers or technologists registered with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA).
• Provision of detailed design, documentation, procurement assistance, and contract management for electrical works.
• Compliance with relevant legislation, standards (e.g., SANS 10142), and environmental regulations.
• Preparation of detailed drawings, specifications, and cost estimates.
• Implementation of quality assurance, health and safety, and environmental management plans.
• Coordination with other service providers and adherence to project milestones and programme.
• Provision of construction monitoring, site inspections, and final certification.

Skills Requirements

• Professional registration with ECSA as an Electrical Engineer or Technologist.
• Experience in electrical design, repair, and refurbishment projects, preferably within government or similar environments.
• Proven capability in project management, contract administration, and coordination of multidisciplinary teams.
• Knowledge of relevant legislation, standards, and environmental requirements.
• Ability to prepare detailed technical drawings, specifications, and cost estimates.
• Skills in quality assurance, health and safety management, and environmental compliance.
• Experience in construction supervision and site inspections for electrical works.
• Competence in stakeholder coordination, socio-economic goal achievement, and reporting.
