Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure a supplier capable of providing and delivering school textbooks to the Durban Management Area, specifically for Durban and Umzinto Correctional Centres. The aim is to ensure the timely supply of specified educational materials that meet the department's standards and specifications.

Scope

The scope of the tender encompasses the supply and delivery of a variety of school textbooks and related educational materials across multiple grades (from Grade 9 to Grade 12) and subjects, including Life Orientation, Tourism, History, Geography, Accounting, and others. The delivery is to be made to designated correctional centers within Durban and Umzinto, with quantities and titles specified in the pricing schedule. The contract covers the entire process from order placement to final delivery, including compliance with packaging, documentation, and quality standards.

Technical Requirements

• Provision of new, unused textbooks that conform to the specified standards and specifications attached in the bid documents.
• Delivery of textbooks in the correct format (e.g., Learner’s Book, Teacher’s Book, Study Guide, Exercise Book) with accurate ISBN numbers and appropriate binding.
• Adherence to specified delivery timelines and conditions, including packaging, labeling, and documentation requirements.
• Compliance with the specifications and standards approved by the relevant authorities of the Department of Correctional Services.
• Provision of all necessary documentation, including delivery notes, invoices, and certificates of compliance.
• Ensuring that all prices are firm and inclusive of delivery costs and applicable taxes.

Skills Requirements

• Ability to supply and deliver textbooks in accordance with detailed specifications and standards.
• Experience in handling large-volume educational material logistics and distribution.
• Capability to comply with contractual obligations related to quality, timing, and documentation.
• Knowledge of government procurement processes, including registration on the Central Supplier Database (CSD).
• Understanding of compliance requirements related to tax, B-BBEE certification, and supply chain management.
• Capacity to provide technical support, training, or incidental services if required.
