Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure services for the repair and refurbishment of the Img Machine House at Transnet Port Terminal, Richards Bay. The aim is to restore the structure to a safe, operational, and compliant condition, ensuring safety for personnel and operational efficiency in line with Transnet’s standards and regulatory requirements.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Dismantling and removal of existing sheeting and damaged components.
• Supply and installation of new structural sheeting, burglar bars, gates, windows, and doors.
• Painting, sandblasting, and corrosion protection of the main structure and associated components.
• Repairs to the crane service hoist and other structural elements.
• Application of corrosion protection on the main structure, floor, winch drum, and base.
• Environmental and safety compliance, including site preparation, safety documentation, and environmental management.
• Provision of scaffolding, rigging, and safety measures to ensure safe access and work execution.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements specify:

• Use of materials compliant with specified standards (e.g., structural steel work, corrosion protection).
• Welding and surface treatment suitable for saline and dust-laden environments.
• Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methods such as MPI, UT, DPT for quality assurance.
• Application of corrosion protection on structural and mechanical components.
• Adherence to specified standards and specifications, including safety, electrical, and environmental standards.
• Provision of site safety, environmental management, and quality assurance documentation.
• Use of approved equipment, tools, and certified personnel for all activities.

Skills and Skills Requirements

The tender requires the following skills and qualifications:

• Qualified welders and surface treatment specialists with certifications for MPI, UT, DPT testing.
• Personnel with experience in structural steel work, corrosion protection, and painting in saline/dust environments.
• Certified safety officers and SHEQ personnel familiar with occupational health and safety regulations.
