Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to supply and deliver Rip Rap materials for the Riviersonderend GWS at Theewaterskloof Dam, as part of construction activities in the Western Cape for the Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS). The project aims to undertake maintenance and erosion control measures on access roads and the golf course around the dam, ensuring water management and preventing further damage.

Scope

The scope includes:

• Supply and delivery of Rip Rap materials to specified points at the Theewaterskloof Dam site.
• Provision of samples and compliance with technical specifications.
• Delivery to three different points as per coordinates provided.
• Adherence to safety, health, and environmental standards during transportation and handling.
• Preparation of a delivery schedule within 5 working days of contract acceptance.
• Monitoring and ensuring timely delivery within specified periods, with penalties for late delivery.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications for the Rip Rap materials include:

• Samples must pass the 53 mm sieve test with a maximum loss of 5% after 5 cycles using sodium sulphate.
• Grading limits:
• 1000 mm sieve: 100% passing
• 600 mm sieve: 70-100% passing
• 300 mm sieve: 35-60% passing
• 150 mm sieve: 0-25% passing
• 75 mm sieve: 0% passing
• Aggregate Crushing Value (ACV) shall be less than 29%, determined according to SANS 5841.
• Rip Rap grading must conform to specified sieve limits.
• Samples must be packed in sealed bags, clearly marked, and submitted to the specified address before the deadline.

Skills and Competency Requirements

Bidder must demonstrate:

• Compliance with all technical specifications and standards (e.g., SANS standards).
• Experience in supplying similar construction materials, with proof such as company profiles and previous project references.
• Ability to produce and submit certified samples meeting specifications.
• Capacity to deliver within the specified schedule, including logistics planning for multiple delivery points.
• Adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations on site and during transportation.
• Provision of valid tax clearance, B-BBEE certification, and CSD registration.
• Capability to provide samples, documentation, and proof of compliance for evaluation and verification processes.
