Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to supply and deliver steel to Lethabo Power Station over a five-year period on an "as and when required" basis, ensuring compliance with specified standards, quality, and contractual obligations. The aim is to meet Eskom’s operational needs efficiently while promoting transformation, local content, and skills development in line with national policies.

Scope

The scope encompasses the procurement, supply, and delivery of various steel products including bars, plates, sheets, angles, channels, and other structural steel components. The scope also covers packaging, marking, testing, certification, and adherence to technical specifications and drawings issued by Eskom. It includes international and local procurement, compliance with environmental and safety standards, and coordination of delivery schedules over the five-year period.

Specific scope elements include:

• Supply of steel in various grades and dimensions as detailed in the Goods Information.
• Packaging, marking, and transportation in accordance with Eskom’s requirements.
• Provision of test certificates, material certificates, and compliance documentation.
• Adherence to drawings, standards, and specifications issued by Eskom.
• Implementation of quality assurance, safety, and environmental protocols.

Technical Requirements

• Steel products must conform to specified standards such as MS BS 4360, EN, ASTM, and other referenced standards.
• Materials must be new, merchantable, free from defects, and suitable for the intended application.
• All goods must be supplied with relevant test certificates, certificates of compliance, and certification in accordance with BS EN10204/3.2.
• Items must be packaged, marked, and labeled clearly with purchase order number, description, part number, batch/serial number, and date of manufacture.
• Delivery must comply with Eskom’s delivery schedule, safety, and environmental procedures.
• Factory acceptance tests may be required, with tests conducted by Eskom’s engineers.
• Goods must be compatible with Eskom’s operational environment and meet safety and environmental standards.

Skills Requirements

• Proficiency in procurement, logistics, and supply chain management specific to steel products.
• Technical expertise in steel standards, specifications, and quality assurance processes.
• Capability to prepare and submit comprehensive test and certification documentation.
• Knowledge of environmental management, safety regulations, and occupational health standards.
• Experience in packaging, marking, and handling of heavy steel components for industrial and power station applications.
• Ability to coordinate delivery schedules, conduct inspections, and perform quality assurance checks.
• Skills in compliance management, reporting, and documentation to meet Eskom’s contractual and regulatory requirements.
