Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to appoint an accredited service provider to deliver advanced handyman training focused on maintenance. The training aims to equip two employees with the necessary skills and certification (NQF level) to perform maintenance tasks effectively, particularly in areas related to electricity, drainage systems, sanitary installations, and environmental sustainability.

Scope

The scope of the training includes:

• Training two employees from the HSRC in handyman skills with a focus on maintenance.
• Training conducted within Pietermaritzburg and Pinetown.
• Provision of coursework covering knowledge components such as workplace electricity, below and above ground drainage systems, sanitary installations, excavation principles, and environmental sustainability.
• Practical application components including equipment, fixtures, fittings, and appliances.
• Issuance of an NQF level certificate upon successful completion.

Technical Requirements

The training must include the following technical components:

• Knowledge of workplace-related electricity
• Understanding of below ground drainage systems and sanitary installations
• Basic principles of excavation
• Environmental sustainability requirements relevant to maintenance work
• Above ground sanitary drainage systems and ground drainage systems
• Preparation and installation of above ground sanitary drainage systems
• Installation of ground sanitary drainage pipes and fittings
• Practical application involving equipment, fixtures, fittings, and appliances

Skills Requirements

The successful bidder must demonstrate the ability to deliver training that develops the following skills:

• Electrical work related to workplace safety and standards
• Installation and maintenance of drainage and sanitary systems
• Excavation techniques and safety
• Environmental sustainability practices in maintenance tasks
• Practical skills in handling equipment, fixtures, fittings, and appliances relevant to handyman maintenance

Mandatory Requirements

Proposals will be disqualified if they do not meet the following mandatory criteria:

• Ability to conduct training within Pinetown as per HSRC schedule
• Provision of an attendance schedule approved by HSRC
• Accredited service provider status
