Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to appoint a qualified service provider to supply onsite medical waste handlers at GJGM Regional Hospital for a period of six months. The service aims to ensure proper handling, management, and disposal of medical waste in compliance with health and safety standards.

Scope

The scope includes:

• Provision of five (5) trained onsite medical waste handlers, including a team leader.
• Staff work during day shifts (07:00 to 16:00) on weekdays, with reduced hours on weekends and public holidays.
• Responsibilities encompass waste preparation, emergency spill response, liaising with hospital waste management, and maintaining infection control practices.
• Provision of uniforms, PPE, safety boots, and identification badges for staff.
• Regular site visits, staff supervision, and refresher training.
• Replacement staff coverage for leaves and emergencies.
• Adherence to health and safety protocols, immunizations, and medical assessments for staff.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications include:

• Provision of trained personnel with knowledge of Healthcare Risk Waste Management.
• Staff to wear appropriate PPE, uniforms, and safety gear at all times.
• Implementation of daily waste handling procedures, spill management, and decontamination processes.
• Conducting regular site inspections, temperature checks, and waste audits.
• Ensuring staff are immunized and medically fit, with medical reports shared with the hospital.
• Provision of relievers for emergency coverage and staff leave.
• Maintaining proper documentation, timesheets, and monthly reports.

Skills Requirements

The successful service provider's staff must possess:

• Relevant training and knowledge in Healthcare Risk Waste Management.
• Good communication skills, especially in English, to liaise effectively with hospital staff and patients.
• Ability to work under pressure, act calmly in emergencies, and follow infection control protocols.
• Team leadership skills for the designated team leader, including supervision, instruction, and compliance enforcement.
• Minimum of 3 years relevant experience for team leaders and staff, supported by CVs and certificates.
• Physical fitness to perform duties effectively.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays.
