Technical Requirements

The technical requirements for the endotracheal tubes are as follows:

• Outer Diameter (OD): Varies per size (e.g., approximately 5.5-6.6 mm for smaller sizes, up to 10.4 mm for larger sizes)
• Material: Non-toxic, flexible, thermosensitive PVC or silicone, softening at body temperature
• Reinforcement: Spiral-wound metal or stainless steel wire embedded within the wall to prevent kinking
• Cuff: High-volume, low-pressure cuff with an effective seal and a pilot balloon for inflation monitoring
• Murphy Eye: Present on the distal tip for alternative gas flow pathway
• Connector: Standard 15 mm ISO connector for compatibility
• Markings: Radiopaque line for visualization, centimeter depth marks, and possibly vocal cord marks
