Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure pest control services for Lindelani Clinic, ensuring the effective eradication and management of various pests including rats, mice, cockroaches, ants, moths, flies, fleas, wasps, bedbugs, bird lice, mites, mosquitoes, and other insects. The service aims to maintain a hygienic and pest-free environment within the clinic premises over a 36-month period, with provisions for chemical treatment alternation to prevent resistance and compliance with environmental and safety standards.

Scope

The scope encompasses:

• Monthly pest control services at Lindelani Clinic and associated buildings, including external perimeter treatment.
• Provision and servicing of rodent bait stations.
• Application of chemicals in a manner that adheres to safety and environmental standards, with alternation of chemical types quarterly.
• Treatment of all rooms, built-in cupboards, out-buildings, and external catchment areas.
• Reporting, record-keeping, and compliance with occupational health and safety regulations.
• Provision of a detailed pest control management plan, including chemical MSDS documentation.
• Response to infestations within 24 hours of notification and re-treatment as necessary.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications include:

• Monthly pest control treatment for 36 months, including internal and external areas.
• Use of environmentally friendly, registered chemicals with MSDS documentation.
• Alternation of five different chemicals for cockroach treatment quarterly.
• Use of three different chemicals for rodent control, rotated quarterly.
• Use of three different chemicals for mosquito control, rotated quarterly.
• Provision and maintenance of rodent bait stations, with monthly servicing.
• Adherence to SANS Code of practice for pest control.
• Proper safety measures, including PPE for personnel handling chemicals.
• Detailed reporting, record-keeping, and compliance with occupational health and safety legislation.

Skills Requirements

The successful bidder must demonstrate:

• Registered and licensed pest control technicians with membership of the South African Pest Control Association.
• Competence in the application of pest control chemicals, including knowledge of MSDS and safety protocols.
• Experience in managing pest control in healthcare or similar sensitive environments.
• Ability to respond promptly to infestation reports within 24 hours.
• Capacity to prepare and implement a comprehensive pest management plan, including chemical alternation schedules.
• Proper record-keeping and reporting skills, including maintaining logs and providing detailed service reports.
• Compliance with occupational health and safety standards, including PPE provision and waste disposal protocols.
