Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to construct a parking area at Umphumulo Hospital in accordance with the attached specifications, ensuring a functional, durable, and compliant parking facility that meets the hospital's needs and standards.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Supply and installation of excavations and asphalting for the parking area.
• Preparation of the site, including removal of grass, excavation, levelling, scarification, and compaction of in-situ materials.
• Asphalting of the parking surface with layers not exceeding 100mm, ensuring a smooth, level, and tight surface.
• Construction of concrete curbing embedded in the ground and 50mm above the finished black-top level.
• Demarcation of parking bays using white road marking paint.
• Adherence to technical standards, safety, and environmental requirements throughout the project.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications include:

• Minimum relative compaction of 95% Mod. AASHTO.
• Finished surface within 20mm of the design level, with a surface finish free of bumps greater than 5mm when measured under a 2m straight edge.
• Layer thickness not less than 130mm at any point and an average of 150mm based on five tests per 10m².
• Use of materials conforming to SABS standards and MASHTO specifications.
• Health and safety compliance, including site protection and risk management.
• Site visits and inspections prior to commencement, with mandatory site briefing on 04/02/2026 at 11:00 AM.
• Completion period of four (4) weeks from site handover, with a minimum guarantee period of three (3) months for materials and work.

Skills Requirements

The successful bidder must demonstrate:

• Proficiency in civil and asphalt construction, including excavation, compaction, and paving techniques.
• Experience in executing similar parking construction projects within healthcare or institutional settings.
• Ability to comply with technical standards, safety regulations, and environmental protocols.
• Capacity to coordinate site inspections, safety measures, and project timelines effectively.
• Provision of qualified personnel capable of executing the scope of work to the required standards.
