Objectives

The tender aims to procure and supply crockery and cutlery items, including various kitchen utensils, serving ware, cutting boards, scales, and related accessories, to Rietvlei Hospital. The overarching goal is to ensure the hospital is equipped with high-quality, hygienic, and durable kitchen and serving equipment that meets specified standards and promotes efficiency in hospital operations.

Scope

The scope encompasses the supply, delivery, and possibly installation of a wide range of kitchen and catering utensils and equipment, such as:

• Crockery (mugs, plates, bowls, trays)
• Cutlery (knives, spoons, graters, peelers)
• Preparation and serving utensils (portion servers, scoops, whisks, scales)
• Cutting boards in various sizes and colours
• Kitchen accessories (can openers, graters, scales, pots, peelers)
• Specialized items like electronic scales, trolleys, and heavy-duty utensils

The items are intended for use in hospital kitchens, patient meal services, and general hospital operations, with specific focus on hygiene, durability, and compliance with standards.

Technical Requirements

• Items must conform to specified standards and quality requirements, including high hygiene standards and durability.
• All crockery and utensils should meet the detailed specifications provided, including sizes, materials (e.g., stainless steel, plastic), and colour coding for hygiene and cross-contamination prevention.
• Items must be new, unused, and of the most recent design or models.
• Suppliers must provide samples if requested, and items must comply with SANAS/SABS specifications where applicable.
• Delivery must be timely, with specified delivery periods and proper packaging to prevent damage during transit.
• All items should be delivered with appropriate documentation, including invoices, delivery notes, and source verification documents.
• Pricing must be firm and valid for 90 days, including VAT where applicable.

Skills Requirements

• Proven experience in supplying hospital or institutional kitchen equipment and utensils.
• Knowledge of relevant standards and specifications (SANS/SABS) for kitchenware and catering equipment.
• Ability to provide quality assurance documentation and samples upon request.
• Capacity to deliver within specified timeframes and handle logistics for hospital supply chains.
• Compliance with procurement policies, including preference points system and declaration of interests.
• Understanding of health and safety standards related to hospital equipment and hygiene practices.
