Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure a Dual Channel Tens Machine that meets the specified technical and quality standards, suitable for use in physiotherapy departments at Wentworth Hospital. The procurement aims to ensure the delivery of reliable, compliant, and effective electrical nerve stimulation equipment to support patient pain management.

Scope

The scope encompasses the supply, delivery, installation, testing, calibration, and commissioning of the Dual Channel Tens Machine as per the attached specifications. It includes providing training to hospital staff, supplying necessary accessories, and ensuring ongoing support and maintenance for the equipment. The procurement is a once-off purchase with a warranty period, and optional accessories and spare parts are also within scope.

Technical Requirements

• The device must be a dual-channel Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulator (TENS) suitable for pain treatment.
• Independent outputs with adjustable amplitude control and an OFF position.
• Output current adjustable from 0 to 80 mA peak-to-peak.
• Powered by a common disposable alkaline battery with a minimum life of 100 hours.
• Size not exceeding 10 cm x 9 cm x 2.6 cm, preferably fitted with a belt grip.
• Three modes of operation: Burst, Continuous, and Modulation.
• Adjustable pulse width (40µS to 260µS) and pulse rate (2Hz to 120Hz).
• Visible indication for ON/OFF status per channel.
• Electrodes: reusable with renewable adhesive mounts, minimum size 3.8cm x 4.4cm, with socket attachment.
• Supply of two electrode connecting lead wires and disposable electrodes as standard accessories.
• Device must be FDA approved if manufactured in the USA.
• Guarantee/warranty of at least 24 months, with specified uptime and service provisions.
• Compliance with IEC 60601-1 and 60601-1-2 electrical safety standards.
• CE certification and hospital-grade mains cable (minimum 3 meters, color-coded).
• Equipment must be new, not refurbished, with software and firmware upgradable as per policy.
• Provision of manuals, technical data sheets, and software for troubleshooting and maintenance.
• Support for training, installation, commissioning, and after-sales service in KwaZulu-Natal.

Skills Requirements

• Qualified technical personnel trained by the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) to service, repair, and calibrate the device, with proof of OEM training.
• Technicians must be available within 24 hours for maintenance and repairs.
• Service and repair facilities must be established within KwaZulu-Natal, with documentation of local service agents and contact details.
• Bidder must provide comprehensive training to in-house technicians on calibration, maintenance, and repair down to PCB level.
• Ability to supply spare parts for at least 10 years from the manufacturer.
• Provision of manuals, software, and updates at no extra cost.
• Demonstration of the equipment’s clinical evaluation status and compliance with relevant standards.
