Objectives

The primary objective of the tender is to procure services for the repair of a broken coal conveyor at the Northern Natal Regional Laundry. The work involves replacing and servicing conveyor components to ensure smooth operation and minimal disruption to ongoing laundry operations.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Supply of all materials, equipment, and labor necessary to service, install, and replace the broken conveyor chain and related components.
• Replacement of conveyor drive motor (Serial No: 19978/380V, Model No: 1503522).
• Replacement of conveyor drive gear box (Type R60, Speed 87, Rating 11kw) connected to the motor.
• Cleaning of conveyor lines to ensure smooth chain operation.
• Provision of accessories such as grease, bolts, and nuts to ensure full functionality.
• Carrying out the work without obstructing the operational accessibility of the facility.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications include:

• Replacement of specific conveyor components as detailed in the specifications.
• Compliance with standards such as CIDB Grade 1 ME and relevant South African standards.
• Work to be carried out within a contract period of two weeks from site handover.
• Guarantee period of 12 months for all materials and installations.
• Adherence to safety, quality, and installation standards specified in the project documentation.

Skills Requirements

The bidder must possess:

• CIDB Grade 1 Mechanical Engineering (ME) certification.
• Proof of previous work done on conveyor systems or mechanical installations.
• Letter of good standing from the Department of Labour.
• Capability to perform mechanical repairs and installations in an operational laundry environment.
• Compliance with health and safety regulations and standards applicable to mechanical and conveyor repairs.
