Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure pest control services at RK Khan Hospital for a period of 12 months. The services aim to eradicate and control pests and vermin such as rats, mice, cockroaches, flies, spiders, and ants, including the eradication of termites (white ants) and bees. Additionally, the contract includes treatment of the hospital's internal and external areas, including the hospital's perimeter fence for snake repellent, ensuring a pest-free environment to support hospital operations.

Scope

The scope of work encompasses:

• Provision of pest control services for the entire hospital building and external areas over 12 months.
• Eradication and control of pests including rodents, insects, and vermin.
• Coverage of internal and external hospital areas, including manholes and the perimeter fence.
• Application of non-toxic, odourless chemicals approved by SABS, with proper dilution and safety data sheets provided.
• Regular fumigation schedules, including weekly, monthly, or quarterly treatments as specified.
• Emergency re-infestation treatments between scheduled services.
• Treatment of specific areas such as kitchens, basement, and food service departments twice a month.
• Additional quotes for removal of bees, termites, white ants, and snake catching if needed.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Use of non-toxic, odourless, eco-friendly chemicals compliant with SABS standards.
• Application of pest control treatments according to a detailed fumigation schedule approved by the hospital’s Waste Management Officer.
• Prior arrangement of service dates with the waste management division at least seven days in advance.
• Chemical dilution to be demonstrated in front of hospital representatives, with MSDS provided.
• Conducting at least two initial thorough fumigation treatments to eliminate pests and eggs.
• Bi-monthly fumigation of food service areas, basement, and kitchenettes.
• Compliance with occupational health and safety regulations, including certified pest control officers.
• Record keeping of service reports, infestation reports, and site maps indicating bait station locations.
• Response to complaints within 24 hours and emergency pest control services as needed.

Skills Requirements

The skills and qualifications required for bidders include:

• Registered Pest Control Officers (PCOs) with valid certificates and compliance with occupational health and safety standards.
• Experience in handling pest eradication in healthcare or similar sensitive environments.
• Knowledge of eco-friendly and non-toxic chemical application methods.
• Ability to prepare and demonstrate chemical dilutions and provide safety data sheets (MSDS).
• Capacity to develop and adhere to fumigation schedules, including initial and routine treatments.
• Competence in record keeping, reporting, and responding promptly to emergency pest control needs.
• Understanding of hospital safety protocols and ability to work within designated service hours (7:00 to 16:00) without disrupting hospital operations.
