Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure a one-off supply of 40,000 tons of bulk sulphur (with a ±10% seller’s option) to Foskor’s Richards Bay operations. The supplier must ensure the delivery of high-quality sulphur that meets specified technical standards, supporting Foskor’s downstream production processes, including sulphuric acid and phosphoric acid manufacturing. Additionally, the partnership aims to enhance supply security, quality, and efficiency, fostering a collaborative relationship that supports Foskor’s business goals and environmental commitments.

Scope

The scope encompasses:

• Supply of approximately 40,000 tons of granular/prilled/pelletised sulphur, free-flowing and free from dust, rust, and lumps.
• Delivery under CFR Richards Bay Incoterms, with discharge rates of 5,000 tons per 24 hours, scheduled for arrival between 27-31 March 2026.
• Vessel requirements include maximum LOA of 180 meters, classification no less than Lloyd’s +100 A1 or equivalent, age not exceeding 10 years unless surveyed, and proper insurance and sanctions compliance.
• Quality specifications include minimum purity of 99.80%, maximum moisture of 1.5%, particle size of ?600 microns (max 1.5%), and compliance with safety data sheet and analysis requirements.
• Sampling, analysis, and inspection procedures at load and discharge ports, including independent laboratory testing and umpire analysis.
• Adherence to safety, environmental, and legal standards, including security clearance, tax compliance, and supplier registration on the Central Supplier Database.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications for the sulphur include:

• Bright yellow, granular/prilled/pelletised form, free-flowing, dust-free, rust-free, lumps-free.
• Purity: ≥99.80% (dry basis)
• Ash Content: ≤0.02%
• Carbon: ≤0.02%
• Moisture: ≤1.5%
• Particle size: ≤600 microns (max 1.5%)
• Iron (Fe): ≤20 mg/kg
• Acidity: ≤0.02%
• Chlorides: ≤50 mg/kg

Vessels must be suitable for sulphur transport, properly classified, insured, and free from sanctions or restrictions. Safety Data Sheets and independent laboratory certificates of analysis are mandatory, with sampling and testing conducted according to ISO/IEC 17025 standards. Discharge and sampling procedures at port must be witnessed and documented, with final analysis binding on both parties.
