Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to appoint a qualified service provider to carry out renovations to the buildings at Doull Road Depot for the Transportation Section of Msunduzi Municipality. The project aims to upgrade and refurbish existing structures to meet operational requirements, ensuring safety, functionality, and compliance with relevant standards.

Scope

The scope of work includes, but is not limited to:

• Preliminaries and general site preparations
• Alterations to existing structures, including building up and making good of openings
• Demolition of specified existing works
• Concrete works, formwork, reinforcement, and finishing
• Masonry works including brickwork, blockwork, and reinforcement
• Waterproofing and dampproofing of walls and floors
• Carpentry and joinery, including doors, windows, and built-in cupboards
• Ceilings, partitions, and access flooring
• Ironmongery, finishes, and hardware
• Plastering, tiling, and finishing works
• Plumbing and drainage installations
• Metalwork, including bolts, locks, and other fixtures
• External works such as excavation, earthworks, and external walling
• Glazing and window installations
• Additional miscellaneous works as detailed in the specifications

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements specify adherence to:

• Relevant legislation including CIDB regulations, Occupational Health and Safety Act, and National Building Regulations
• Standards such as SANS 10400 and SAGGA regulations for glazing and glass
• Use of specified proprietary products unless prior approval for substitutes is obtained
• Proper site visits and inspections before tender submission
• Compliance with specified construction methods, quality standards, and safety protocols
• Provision of detailed implementation plans and management strategies
• Use of approved materials, including concrete, bricks, waterproofing, and finishes
• Timely completion within the contract period

Skills and Skills Requirements

The tenderer must demonstrate the following skills and experience:

• Proven experience in building renovations, alterations, and related construction works
• Qualified personnel including project managers, site supervisors, and skilled tradespeople (e.g., carpenters, masons, plumbers, electricians)
• Competence in handling demolition, masonry, concrete, waterproofing, and finishing works
• Knowledge of relevant standards, safety regulations, and environmental considerations
• Capability to manage site logistics, coordinate multiple trades, and ensure quality control
• Ability to prepare and submit detailed work plans, schedules, and health & safety plans
• Demonstrated capacity to work with specified proprietary products and materials
• Experience in working within municipal or public sector projects is advantageous

All bidders must provide evidence of their technical competence, relevant experience, qualified personnel, and resources to successfully execute the scope of work within the stipulated timeframe.
