Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to secure a contractor for the cleaning and maintenance of gardens and grounds at Msunduzi Bridge Clinic over a contract period of six months. The aim is to ensure the upkeep of the clinic’s outdoor areas, including grass cutting, tree trimming, weed control, and general grounds maintenance, in accordance with specified standards and safety regulations.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Garden maintenance within the defined property area.
• Mowing of all grassed areas and nature strips.
• Removal of rubbish and debris from all areas.
• Sweeping and blowing pathways, gutters, and driveways.
• Trimming and pruning of trees and shrubs, including overhanging branches.
• Removal and replacement of fallen or dead trees/shrubs/plants.
• Weed removal and weed control maintenance.
• Washing paved areas, waiting areas, and drains with high-pressure cleaners monthly.
• Tree work, including advanced pruning by trained personnel.
• Car park and pathway maintenance, including weed control and debris removal.
• Mulching and periodic replanting as needed.
• Site clean-up and perimeter fence clearance of weeds and alien vegetation.

Technical Requirements

The contractor must:

• Carry out all work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act 85/1993, as amended.
• Submit Job Safety Analyses (JSA) sheets and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for all works.
• Ensure all work is performed to the standards specified, including grass height, pruning, weed control, and clean-up.
• Use appropriate equipment such as mowers, blowers, and high-pressure cleaners.
• Maintain the site in a clean and safe condition throughout the contract period.
• Provide periodic recommendations for site improvements and replanting.

Skills Requirements

The contractor must have:

• Qualified personnel trained in garden maintenance, tree pruning, and landscaping.
• Experience in groundskeeping, including the use of machinery and safety procedures.
• Ability to perform advanced tree work with trained staff.
• Knowledge of weed control, mulching, and site clean-up procedures.
• Capability to adhere to safety standards and submit necessary safety documentation.
• Competence in maintaining equipment and ensuring quality workmanship.
