Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to establish a three-year contract for the maintenance and servicing of drainage systems at Pinetown Mortuary. The contract aims to procure competent, accredited contractors to perform drain jetting, cleaning, preventative and reactive maintenance, ensuring the drainage infrastructure remains functional, efficient, and compliant with safety standards.

Scope

The scope includes:

• Provision of drainage system maintenance services, including preventative and reactive/corrective work.
• Performing regular inspections, cleaning, and jetting of drainage infrastructure such as autopsy drains, stormwater systems, and general drainage in the facility.
• Conducting condition assessments and providing reports with findings and recommendations.
• Responding promptly to breakdowns and emergencies, with specified response times.
• Providing all necessary plant, tools, materials, and safety equipment required for the work.
• Ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety regulations.
• Disposal of redundant materials and spare parts following repairs or maintenance.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications include:

• Use of jetting machines capable of delivering 21 L/min at 18,000 kPa, mounted on trucks/trailers with a minimum 500-litre polyethylene water tank.
• Jetting and cleaning of autopsy drains monthly, stormwater systems biannually, and general drainage as needed.
• Provision of a 21 L/min jetting machine with specified pressure and water capacity.
• Demonstration of technical competency, including proof of experience, equipment availability, and safety policies.
• Adherence to safety standards, including risk assessments, safety training, and incident reporting.
• Availability of resources such as qualified personnel, appropriate equipment, and safety documentation.

Skills Requirements

The tender requires bidders to possess:

• Proven technical competency in plumbing and drainage system maintenance, supported by trade certificates and experience in similar projects.
• Demonstrable experience with drainage jetting and cleaning services, with references and project details.
• Qualified personnel including a project manager, supervisors, and skilled workers with relevant certifications.
• Availability of specialized equipment, such as high-pressure jetting machines, with maintenance records.
