Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to select a qualified service provider to carry out post-service repairs to the engine fire pump at Umgeni Hospital. The repair work aims to ensure the fire pump operates effectively and reliably, maintaining safety standards in the hospital's fire protection system.

Scope

The scope includes:

• Performing post-service repairs on the diesel-driven fire pump as per attached specifications.
• Removing and replacing damaged or faulty components, including delivery and suction line gauges.
• Testing, commissioning, and ensuring the fire pump functions efficiently post-repair.
• Providing all necessary accessories and minor repairs to restore the unit to operational condition.
• Sign-off of the repair work to the satisfaction of the Maintenance Manager.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements specify that:

• The repair must adhere strictly to the provided specifications, including the use of stainless steel casing and brass wetted parts for pressure gauges.
• Pressure gauges must meet BS EN 837-1 standards, with specific features such as glycerine filling and appropriate connection sizes (3/8" or ¼").
• The service provider must visit the site, confirm damaged parts, and carry out repairs accordingly.
• All gauges and components must be certified and compliant with relevant standards.
• The repair process includes testing and commissioning to ensure the fire pump operates effectively and safely.

Skills Requirements

The successful bidder must demonstrate:

• Proven experience in repairing diesel-driven fire pumps and related firefighting equipment.
• Qualified artisans with certified mechanical trade test certificates and artisan ID copies.
• Ability to interpret technical specifications and standards related to fire pump systems and pressure gauges.
• Capability to visit the site, assess damage, and perform repairs in accordance with safety and quality standards.
• Knowledge of relevant South African standards (BS EN 837-1) and certification procedures for pressure gauges.
• Capacity to provide technical support, testing, and commissioning services post-repair.
