Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to engage a service provider to perform servicing and repairs on a forklift operated by Transnet SOC Limited (TPT) at the Port of Port Elizabeth Multi-Purpose Terminal. The work aims to ensure the forklift's optimal functionality through maintenance, refurbishment, and necessary repairs, including engine oil analysis and chain lubrication, without undertaking major gearbox repairs.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Servicing and repairing the specified forklift as per OEM standards.
• Conducting engine oil analysis.
• Refurbishing necessary components.
• Cleaning, inspecting, and lubricating chains, forks, carriage, and all moving parts.
• Using OEM or approved parts for replacements.
• Compiling detailed reports on actions taken, parts replaced, repairs, and tests conducted.
• Performing functionality tests post-repair.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements for the tender include:

• The forklift must meet the specifications provided by the OEM.
• No major repairs should be performed on the gearbox, only necessary refurbishment.
• Engine oil analysis must be completed.
• All replacement parts must be OEM or approved equivalents.
• Chains, forks, carriage, and all moving parts must be cleaned, inspected, and lubricated.
• A detailed report of the work, including findings, repairs, parts replaced, and testing, must be submitted after completion.
• All work must adhere to safety and operational standards specified by TPT.

Skills Requirements

The tender mandates the following skills and qualifications for personnel involved:

• Earthmoving Mechanic with a CV and qualifications (Diploma NQF Level 6 or Red Seal).
• Minimum of three years’ experience in maintenance and repairs of mobile equipment or earth-moving machinery.
• Experience in inspection of materials and structures.
• Ability to perform engine oil analysis, refurbishment, and detailed reporting.
• Competence in using OEM or approved parts and tools for repairs.
