Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure and supply needles (specifically 16G needles) and blood pressure (BP) cuffs of all sizes to Catherine Booth Hospital. The aim is to ensure the availability of quality medical supplies for patient injections and blood pressure monitoring, adhering to specified standards and specifications.

Scope

The scope of the tender includes:

• Supply and delivery of 16G needles (boxes of 100) in accordance with detailed specifications.
• Supply and delivery of BP cuffs in various sizes (small, medium, large, neonate, infant, child) with appropriate connectors and materials.
• Provision of samples for specified items if required.
• Delivery to Catherine Booth Hospital within the stipulated contract period, which is once-off.
• Compliance with quality standards, specifications, and relevant health and safety regulations.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements specify that:

• 16G needles must be grey, 19mm in length, with a diameter of 1.6mm, made of stainless steel with a plastic tip.
• BP cuffs must be new, made of nylon or polyester with Velcro straps, and suitable for adult and paediatric use, with single connectors compatible with medical devices.
• Items must conform to the specified standards, be brand new, and meet the quality standards approved by the department.
• Samples of BP cuffs and needles may be required for inspection and testing.
• All supplies must be properly packaged to prevent damage during transit.

Skills and Qualification Requirements

Suppliers must demonstrate:

• Ability to supply and deliver medical-grade needles and BP cuffs that meet the detailed specifications.
• Provision of samples for evaluation, where applicable.
• Compliance with health and safety standards, including necessary licenses and approvals from the South African Health Products Regulatory Authority (SAPHRA).
• Proof of previous experience or capacity to deliver similar medical supplies reliably and within the specified timeframe.
• Ability to adhere to procurement policies, including preference points for Black-owned companies and compliance with the Department’s supply chain management regulations.
• Provision of valid tax clearance and registration documents, including CSD registration and BBBEE certificates if applicable.
