Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to facilitate the removal, purchase, and collection of scrapped KVA transformers at Hammanskraal CNC on a once-off contract basis. The process aims to ensure the safe, efficient, and environmentally compliant handling of the transformers, including their collection, transportation, and site cleanup post-removal.

Scope

• Purchase, collect, and remove scrapped KVA transformers located at Hammanskraal CNC.
• Collect all units within 7 working days from the issuance of the work instruction or task order.
• Service the contract at any site within the contractual period, depending on Eskom’s operational needs.
• Ensure the site is cleaned after removal, including oil spill rehabilitation if necessary.
• Handle all units listed by Eskom, with part payments made after successful collection and transfer of ownership.

Technical Requirements

• Safe collection, handling, and transportation of scrapped transformers using qualified labor and certified equipment.
• Site cleanup post-collection, including oil spill management and environmental rehabilitation.
• Compliance with Eskom’s safety, health, and environmental standards, including adherence to OHSA Act no 85 of 1993.
• Use of certified plant, machinery, and transport suitable for hazardous waste handling.
• Provision of necessary permits for removal and transportation, including environmental waste management licenses for hazardous materials.
• Implementation of safety measures such as fire fighting equipment, risk assessments, and oil spill mitigation.

Skills Requirements

• Proven technical capability to manage and process transformer removal projects efficiently and safely.
• Experience in handling second-hand electrical equipment and compliance with relevant legislation such as the Second-Hand Goods Act.
• Ability to mobilize and operate certified machinery and transport for hazardous waste removal.
• Knowledge of environmental management practices, including waste oil handling and site rehabilitation.
• Adherence to safety protocols, including risk assessments, incident management, and SHE (Safety, Health, Environment) compliance.
• Capability to coordinate with Eskom’s site officials and adhere to site access and operational procedures.
