Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure disposable gowns in large and X-large sizes for use in the theatre at Port Shepstone Hospital, KwaZulu-Natal. The procurement aims to ensure the availability of sterile, fluid and water-repellent, non-woven polypropylene gowns that meet specified standards for medical use, including bacterial barrier efficiency and compliance with relevant certifications.

Scope

The scope covers the supply and delivery of 250 units each of large and X-large disposable sterile gowns to Port Shepstone Hospital. The gowns must be individually packed, sterile, and suitable for surgical procedures. The contract is a once-off purchase, with delivery to be made within the specified delivery period, and includes providing samples if requested, along with necessary certification documentation.

Technical Requirements

• Gowns must be surgical, disposable, sterile, and fluid/water-repellent.
• Material: Non-woven polypropylene with body weight approximately 54 g/m² and long sleeves with cuffs of approximately 66 g/m².
• Reinforced in chest and forearm areas.
• Resistance to liquid penetration and bacterial barrier efficiency.
• Color: Blue.
• Design: Long sleeves, lint-free, with reinforced chest and forearm, and equipped with 4 sterile hand towels for drying.
• Packaging: Each gown individually packed.
• Sizes: Large and X-Large.
• Compliance with SABS/SANS standards or equivalent certifications.
• Gowns must have a specified shelf life, which bidders must state.

Skills Requirements

• Bidder must demonstrate capability to supply and deliver sterile surgical gowns in the specified quantities and sizes.
• Provision of valid certification and proof of compliance with relevant standards (e.g., SABS/SANS).
• Ability to provide samples within the stipulated timeframe for evaluation.
• Provision of necessary documentation including BBBEE certificate or sworn affidavit, tax certificate, and CSD report.
• Experience in supplying medical textiles and familiarity with procurement procedures for health sector supplies.
• Capacity to meet delivery deadlines and handle quality assurance processes.
