Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to supply and deliver medical oxygen to various City of Cape Town health facilities over a contract period of 36 months, ensuring a reliable supply of high-purity oxygen (minimum 99.5%) in cylinders of specified sizes, with compliance to safety, quality, and transport standards.

Scope

The scope includes:

• Provision of medical oxygen cylinders (10.2kg, 4.6kg, 1.84kg, 0.94kg, 0.47kg) and their rental, with delivery to designated facilities within Cape Town.
• Delivery within 48 hours of official purchase orders, with replacement of faulty cylinders within 48 hours.
• Transport and handling in compliance with SANS regulations, including vehicle inspections and decal placements.
• Provision of certificates confirming oxygen purity and safety compliance.
• Maintaining a traceable supply chain with documentation for product recall or incident investigation.
• Adherence to occupational health and safety standards during delivery and handling.

Technical Requirements

• Oxygen cylinders must have a minimum purity of 99.5% and be identified with SANS specifications.
• Cylinders must accommodate bullnose and pin index regulators where applicable.
• Delivery vehicles must display decals: "Oxygen" with UN number 1072 on each side and rear, visible from roadside.
• Delivery within 48 hours of order, with replacement of faulty cylinders within 48 hours.
• Provision of certificates including SANS compliance, safety data sheets, and proof of licenses.
• Vehicle inspection to ensure compliance with transport regulations.
• Samples of cylinders for testing (fully sealed 4.6kg cylinders) must be submitted within 7 days of request.
• Oxygen purity certificates must confirm ≥99.5% purity.

Skills and Skills Requirements

• Technical expertise in handling and transporting medical oxygen cylinders, including compliance with SANS and OHSA standards.
• Ability to provide certificates of compliance, safety data sheets, and traceability documentation.
• Experience in logistics and supply chain management specific to medical gases.
• Competence in vehicle inspection and adherence to transport safety regulations.
• Capability to respond promptly to delivery requests and handle faulty cylinders efficiently.
• Knowledge of occupational health and safety practices related to handling compressed gases.
• Ability to provide samples for testing and demonstrate product purity and safety standards.
