Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure services for the major maintenance and servicing of water calorifiers and boilers at Greytown Hospital. The aim is to ensure the proper functioning, safety, and longevity of the hospital's hot water storage and heating systems through comprehensive servicing, including descaling, gasket replacement, electrical inspections, and repairs, while maintaining hospital operations with minimal disruption.

Scope

The scope of the tender encompasses:

• Major servicing of 2200L water calorifiers, including tank descaling, rust removal, gasket replacement, and cleaning.
• Inspection, repair, and replacement of boiler components such as elements, gaskets, pumps, and control switches.
• Electrical system checks and repairs.
• Application of protective coatings and compliance with safety standards.
• Work to be carried out on-site at Greytown Hospital over a contract period of two weeks, ensuring hospital operations are unaffected.
• Provision of necessary certificates of compliance and adherence to technical specifications.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Compliance with ISO 9001:2008 standards for materials and workmanship.
• Descaling, rust removal, and cleaning of water calorifiers and boilers.
• Replacement of faulty or old components such as gasket seals, boiler elements, circulation pumps, and control switches.
• Inspection and testing of electrical panels and control units.
• Application of rust-repellent and primer paints.
• Adherence to all relevant standards, including SABS, South African Bureau of Standards, and Department of Health specifications.
• Provision of certificates of compliance for pressure vessels, safety valves, and other critical components.
• Work to be performed with minimal disruption to hospital services, with site safety and cleanliness maintained at all times.

Skills Requirements

The successful bidder must possess:

• Qualified and experienced technicians with certifications in pressure vessel operation, boiler maintenance, and electrical systems.
• Valid certificates for pressure/steamer vessels, and compliance with CIDB grading standards (minimum 1GB/1EP/1SD/1SO).
• Proven experience in servicing hospital water systems and boiler plants.
• Knowledge of South African standards, safety regulations, and environmental requirements.
• Ability to provide technical support, inspection, and certification documentation.
• Capacity to execute the work within the specified timeframe, ensuring hospital operations are not hindered.
