Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to conduct tracing and repair of dampness issues on the wall at Pelonomi Hospital's Stat Laboratory. The aim is to identify the source of dampness, carry out necessary repairs, and ensure the affected wall is restored to a suitable condition, complying with all relevant standards and specifications.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Inspection and diagnosis of dampness problems on the specified wall.
• Tracing the source of dampness, including potential pipe leaks or structural issues.
• Breaking and repairing floors if necessary to access pipes or repair water ingress.
• Repairing cracks, mortar joints, and painted surfaces as specified.
• Replastering, re-painting, and finishing to match existing surfaces.
• Installation of necessary waterproofing, crack fillers, and sealants.
• Ensuring all work adheres to health, safety, and quality standards, including ISO 9001 accreditation.
• Coordination with hospital operations to minimize disruption, including after-hours work if required.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Use of approved, ISO 9001 accredited materials for repairs, waterproofing, and finishing.
• Proper diagnosis and tracing of dampness sources using suitable techniques.
• Execution of repairs in accordance with manufacturer specifications and best practices.
• Application of crack fillers, cement mortars, and paints with appropriate priming and surface preparation.
• Installation of waterproofing membranes and sealants where necessary.
• Compliance with relevant standards such as SANS 10142 for electrical installations and SABS approvals for materials.
• Provision of safety files, insurance, and adherence to Occupational Health and Safety Act requirements.
• Coordination of work schedules to ensure hospital operations are unaffected.

Skills Requirements

The successful bidder must demonstrate:

• CIDB registration in at least Grade 1GB or higher, with proven experience in dampness repairs and building works.
• Technical competence in diagnosing dampness issues, waterproofing, plastering, and painting.
• Qualified and registered plumbers for pipe repairs and water sealing.
• Skilled personnel for surface preparation, crack filling, and finishing works.
• Experience in working within hospital environments, ensuring minimal disruption and adherence to safety protocols.
• Ability to provide references and proof of similar completed projects within the last five years.
• Capability to supply and install approved materials, including waterproofing membranes, paints, and sealants.
