Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to engage a qualified service provider to perform servicing, refilling, repair, and installation of fire equipment at Benedictine Hospital. The goal is to ensure compliance with relevant safety standards, including the National Building Regulation TT37.5 and the Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993, thereby maintaining effective fire safety measures within the facility.

Scope

The scope includes:

• Servicing and refilling of various fire extinguishers (e.g., 2kg, 4.5kg, 9kg CO2 and DCP types) located throughout the hospital.
• Servicing, repairs, and supply of complete hose reel sets.
• Removal, servicing, and reinstallation of fire equipment, including temporary loan units if needed.
• Provision of after-service reports, certificates, and detailed records of fire equipment status.
• Training hospital staff on the proper use of fire-fighting equipment post-service.
• Adherence to quality standards, including SABS approval and registration with the South African Qualification for Fire Industry (S.A.Q.C.C.).

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements specify that:

• All fire equipment must be serviced and refilled according to the manufacturer's specifications and standards.
• Servicing must be performed by technicians registered with the S.A.Q.C.C., with valid certificates to be provided.
• All products supplied must be SABS and ABS approved.
• Equipment removal and reinstallation must be coordinated to minimize operational disruption, with loan units provided if necessary.
• Service labels indicating date of service and expiry must be attached to each fire extinguisher.
• Spare parts and repairs should ensure 100% operational readiness, with replaced parts handed over to the Maintenance Supervisor.
• Guarantee of service quality for a period of one year, maintaining good pressure and operational condition.

Skills Requirements

The bidder must demonstrate:

• Qualified technicians registered with the South African Qualification for Fire Industry (S.A.Q.C.C.), with certificates to be submitted.
• Experience in servicing and refilling various types of fire extinguishers and fire safety equipment.
• Ability to provide detailed after-service reports and maintain accurate records of all serviced equipment.
• Capability to coordinate equipment removal, servicing, and reinstallation efficiently.
• Knowledge of relevant safety standards and compliance requirements.
