Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to supply, deliver, install, and commission a reliable dust hopper level measurement system at Grootvlei Power Station for a period of three (03) years. The system aims to provide accurate and dependable data on dust hopper levels to prevent operational inefficiencies caused by hopper overfill, thereby enabling better maintenance, operational planning, and load management.

Scope

The scope of the project includes:

• Installation of dust hopper level measurement systems on Units 1 to 3 at Grootvlei Power Station.
• Provision of calibration, configuration, and commissioning of the measurement instruments.
• Delivery of all necessary equipment, including calibration certificates and OEM authorizations.
• Technical support and documentation throughout the project duration.
• Ensuring the measurement system meets the functional design specifications and integrates with existing control systems.

This scope is applicable specifically to the Control and Instrumentation (C&I) Maintenance, Engineering, Projects, and Operating departments involved in the implementation.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements for the tender include:

• Provision of valid OEM authorization for calibration of specified instruments, covering the full scope of work.
• Submission of a detailed program for the scope of work, including activity plans and schedules.
• Demonstration of technical capability to perform calibration in compliance with SANAS standards, supported by proof of previous calibrations.
• Provision of references for similar work (minimum 30% score for acceptable references).
• Submission of a Method Statement or Technical Project Proposal detailing the approach.
• Relevant qualifications and experience of personnel involved, including site managers, technicians, and skilled workers.
• Provision of proof of calibration processes, equipment, and personnel training.
• Meeting the functional design specifications for dust hopper level measurement systems.

Skills Requirements

The skills and qualifications required from the tenderers include:

• Qualified personnel with relevant experience in calibration, installation, and maintenance of level measurement instruments.
• Personnel with knowledge of power plant control systems, including Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and industrial bus protocols.
• Experience in developing drawings, interpreting schematic and loop diagrams, and working with calibration standards.
• Proven ability to perform calibrations in accordance with SANAS requirements, supported by valid calibration certificates.
• Technical expertise in configuring and commissioning instrumentation systems within a power plant environment.
