Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure sterile blunt needles of 18 gauge size, with manufacturing and expiry details clearly indicated on the packaging, to meet the needs of Greys Hospital's supply chain management. The procurement aims to ensure the availability of high-quality, compliant medical needles for hospital use, adhering to specified standards and specifications.

Scope

The scope encompasses the manufacturing, packaging, and delivery of 200 boxes of sterile blunt needles (18g), with detailed expiry and manufacturing information visible on each package. The procurement process includes submission of samples, compliance with specifications, and adherence to the stipulated delivery timelines. The contract is a once-off purchase, with the possibility of evaluation based on technical and price criteria, including preference points for specific goals such as ownership by Black People.

Technical Requirements

• Needles must be 18 gauge, sterile, and manufactured with expiry details clearly visible on the packaging.
• Packaging must include manufacturing and expiry dates, with a minimum shelf life of two years.
• Items must conform to the specifications outlined in the annexure, including size, material, and sterility standards.
• Samples may be requested from the top-scoring bidders for compliance verification.
• All products must meet the relevant quality standards and be valid for a minimum of six months upon delivery.

Skills Requirements

• Bidder must demonstrate compliance with regulatory standards, including holding valid licenses issued by the South African Health Products Regulatory Authority (SAHPRA) for manufacturing, importing, or distributing medical devices.
• Bidder should possess technical expertise in the production of sterile medical needles, ensuring manufacturing quality and safety.
• Ability to provide detailed documentation, including expiry and manufacturing details, and to supply samples for technical evaluation.
• Competence in adhering to procurement procedures, including timely submission of quotations, samples, and compliance documentation.
