Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure the supply of a Pentacam device, which is an anterior segment tomography camera, for use at the McCord Provincial Eye Hospital under the Department of Health in KwaZulu-Natal. The procurement aims to ensure the hospital is equipped with a modern, reliable, and clinically evaluated device that meets specified technical standards for ophthalmic imaging and diagnostics.

Scope

The scope of the tender encompasses the supply, delivery, installation, commissioning, and demonstration of the Pentacam device. It includes providing all necessary accessories, optional extras, spare parts, training, and support services required for the effective operation of the equipment. The contract is for a once-off supply with a minimum warranty period, and the device must comply with detailed technical specifications and standards outlined in the tender documentation.

Technical Requirements

• The device must incorporate the latest Schimpflug technology, including all essential fittings for complete operation.
• Supply of a computer or laptop with sufficient storage capacity for image processing, capable of exporting data to portable media.
• Operation off 220V ±10%, 50Hz single-phase AC supply.
• Complete with all standard accessories, optional accessories, and disposables necessary for immediate use.
• The equipment must be CE certified, comply with IEC 60601-1 and 60601-1-2 standards, and meet specified safety and electrical standards.
• The device must be supplied with comprehensive manuals, calibration and maintenance software, and support documentation.
• Guarantee/warranty of at least 24 months, with guaranteed uptime of at least 99%.
• Provision of training for hospital technicians, technical support, and availability of spare parts for at least 10 years.
• The equipment must be capable of being installed and commissioned at the hospital site without additional equipment requirements.
• Optional accessories must be listed with prices, and the supplier must guarantee no additional equipment will be needed for operation.

Skills Requirements

• The bidder must demonstrate technical expertise in ophthalmic imaging equipment, specifically Pentacam or similar devices.
• Provision of manufacturer-trained technicians for installation, calibration, and maintenance.
• Ability to provide comprehensive training to hospital technical staff, including calibration, repair, and troubleshooting down to PCB level.
• Availability of a well-established service and repair facility within KwaZulu-Natal, with qualified technicians and support staff.
• Provision of detailed manuals, software, and technical documentation to facilitate ongoing maintenance and support.
• Compliance with all relevant safety, electrical, and medical standards, with proof of certification and licensing.
