Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure Body Bags XL for the GJGM Regional Hospital under the Department of Health in KwaZulu-Natal. The procurement aims to ensure the availability of high-quality, compliant body bags that meet specified standards and specifications for use in medical and mortuary services.

Scope

The scope includes the supply of 1200 units of Body Bags XL, manufactured according to detailed specifications, including materials, workmanship, and dimensions. The procurement covers the entire process from order placement, delivery, to compliance with quality and safety standards, including packaging, inspection, and warranty provisions.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications for the Body Bags include:

• Material: Recycled plastic with a minimum thickness of 180 microns, heat bonded for waterproof joints.
• Color: White body with black handles and zipper.
• Size: XL dimensions of approximately 2.3m x 1m x 120 microns.
• Handles: Four extra-strong handles with a tensile strength of up to 45kg, box stitched.
• Fastener: Black nylon slide fastener (A 5 CF) with two lockable sliders.
• Sewing Thread: Size 25 poly-cotton core spun threads with a breaking strength of at least 12N.
• Welding: Plastic panels heat bonded to ensure waterproofing.
• Workmanship: Must comply with SANS 1270/2007 and SABS standards, leak-proof with zip sewn 15cm from edges.

Skills Requirements

The supplier must demonstrate:

• Manufacturing capability to produce body bags that meet specified standards and dimensions.
• Experience in producing medical or similar disposable bags with quality assurance.
• Ability to provide samples for testing and inspection.
• Compliance with quality standards such as SABS and SANAS accreditation.
• Provision of necessary documentation including B-BBEE certificates, SARS tax clearance, and proof of SABS/SANS approval.
• Capacity to deliver the required quantity within the specified timeframe.
