Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to provision the hire of a self-propelled articulating boom lift with a maximum working height of 25 meters. The service is required for a period of two (2) years on an “As & When” needed basis to support maintenance activities at Transnet Port Terminals in Saldanha Bay, specifically for high mast lighting, warehouse, and building repairs to improve safety and compliance.

Scope

The scope includes:

• Provision of a self-propelled articulating boom lift with a maximum working height of 25 meters.
• Hire period of two (2) years, with the equipment operating onsite at TPT Saldanha MPT terminal.
• The equipment must be load tested, certificates provided, and be operationally ready to load test within three (3) hours in case of breakdown during onsite operation.
• The service provider must ensure 24/7 availability, including weekends and public holidays, to support continuous operations.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications include:

• Maximum working height of 25 meters.
• Load tested and certified within the last specified period.
• Operator must be certified and competent.
• Equipment must be suitable for high mast lighting maintenance, repairs, and other building works.
• Availability for immediate load testing within three hours if breakdown occurs.
• Compliance with relevant safety, health, environmental, and quality standards, including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and applicable South African standards.
• Provision of a Contractor Execution Plan covering safety, environmental, quality, and delivery plans prior to mobilization.

Skills and Skills Requirements

The tender stipulates that:

• The service provider must have personnel trained, tested, and competent to operate the boom lift.
• Personnel must hold valid medical certificates and relevant competencies.
• The operator must be certified and capable of load testing and equipment operation onsite.
• The service provider must have the capacity to respond swiftly to breakdowns, load test the equipment within three hours, and provide operational support 24/7.
• Personnel must adhere to safety, health, and environmental regulations, including compliance with Transnet’s SHEQ standards.
• The provider must demonstrate experience in operating similar equipment and compliance with all safety and technical standards.
