Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure a service provider to deliver comprehensive chainsaw training for five (5) officials. The training aims to equip participants with the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills to operate chainsaws safely, perform maintenance, and execute tree felling and cutting techniques in line with industry standards.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Delivering a training program suitable for both novice and experienced operators.
• Providing theoretical and practical components covering chainsaw components, safety, maintenance, and operational techniques.
• Ensuring training aligns with the Guidelines for Forest Engineering Practices in South Africa (FESA).
• Supply of all necessary training equipment, including chainsaws and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Conducting training in accordance with health and safety regulations at in-house facilities in Bloemfontein.
• Providing learner manuals, qualified facilitators, assessment, moderation, and certification upon successful completion.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Accreditation with a relevant SETA or recognized accreditation body for trainers.
• Provision of proof of facilitator accreditation and registration.
• Training content must cover:
• Introduction to chainsaws, types, parts, and applications.
• Safety procedures, legislative compliance, and industry standards.
• Chainsaw maintenance, inspection, troubleshooting, and record keeping.
• Practical operations including pre-operational checks, safe handling, cutting techniques, and tree felling.
• Adherence to health and safety regulations during training.
• Provision of all required training equipment and materials.

Skills Requirements

The skills and qualifications required from the service provider include:

• Accreditation with a recognized SETA or equivalent accreditation body.
• Qualified facilitators and assessors with relevant expertise in chainsaw operation and safety.
• Experience in delivering practical and theoretical training in forestry or related fields.
• Ability to provide comprehensive training materials, learner manuals, and assessment tools.
• Compliance with health and safety standards during training sessions.
