Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to appoint a qualified service provider to construct a storm water management system at the Karatara Clinic site on Erf 589 in the Western Cape. The project aims to address rainwater runoff issues, prevent ponding, ensure safe access for patients and staff, protect public health, and comply with environmental and storm water regulations.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Construction of storm water infrastructure, including main and secondary channels, kerb entry points, storm water head walls, and associated works as designed by the engineer.
• Construction of grassed V-drains, channels, and drainage infrastructure to effectively collect, convey, and discharge storm water runoff.
• Obtaining necessary way-leave permissions from the local municipality prior to commencing works on municipal land.
• Execution of earthworks, excavation, earthmoving, landscaping, and construction of storm water head walls as detailed in the tender documents.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements specify:

• Construction of storm water channels, kerb entry points, and head walls according to civil engineering standards and approved drawings.
• Design and construction of grassed V-drains and associated drainage infrastructure.
• Compliance with civil engineering standards, environmental regulations, and local authority requirements.
• Provision of all necessary permits and approvals before starting work.
• Adherence to the specifications outlined in the construction drawings and bill of quantities.

Skills Requirements

The bidder must demonstrate:

• Registration with the CIDB as a Grade 2 CE (Civil Engineering) or higher.
• Experience in executing at least three civil infrastructure projects of similar scope and complexity, supported by completion certificates or client confirmation.
• Capability to prepare and submit detailed technical and financial proposals aligned with the project specifications.
• Knowledge of storm water management standards, environmental compliance, and local municipal procedures.
• Qualified personnel with relevant civil engineering expertise to oversee construction activities and ensure quality standards.
