Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure and operate dust suppression water cannon spray trucks for Transnet Port Terminals (TPT) at Richards Bay Port for a period of two months. The service aims to mitigate dust pollution, ensure environmental compliance, and enhance safety during cargo handling operations within the port.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Provision of equipment hire services for dust suppression water cannon spray trucks.
• Deployment of the trucks along with qualified operators for 24-hour operation over two months.
• Coverage of various operational areas within the port, including stockpiles and risky zones prone to dust emission.
• Use of specified equipment with technical specifications such as spray size, flow rate, pump pressure, and range.
• Adherence to safety, health, and environmental regulations, including PPE requirements and hazard management.
• Maintenance of operational readiness, including provision of replacement equipment if needed.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications for the dust suppression equipment are as follows:

• Spray size: 100 meters
• Flow rate: 7-11 liters per second
• Liquid pump pressure: 0.5 – 2.5 bar, with advanced stainless-steel pumps
• Fog drop particles: 50-300 microns
• Horizontal range: >100 meters
• Pitch angle: -10° to 45°
• Horizontal rotation: 320° (adjustable)
• Power capacity: >75 kW with total power adjustment
• Protection system: Limit and overload protection

The equipment must be operated by qualified personnel with valid licenses and certificates of competence. The trucks should be capable of operating continuously in demanding port conditions, including high wind velocities and saline, dusty environments.

Skills Requirements

• Qualified operators with valid driving licenses and specialized equipment certificates for dust suppression trucks.
• Operators must have relevant training and competence certificates as mandated by South African law and regulating bodies.
• Personnel must be medically fit and adhere to health and safety regulations, including PPE usage.
• The service provider must ensure proper maintenance and operational readiness of the equipment throughout the contract period.
• Operational staff should be trained in safety protocols, hazard management, and environmental compliance.
