Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure Cannula IV Catheter 24g Jelco to meet the needs of Harry Gwala Regional Hospital, ensuring the supply of quality medical equipment that complies with specified standards and technical requirements.

Scope

The scope includes the supply and delivery of 40,000 units of Cannula IV Catheter 24g Jelco to Harry Gwala Regional Hospital. The procurement is a once-off contract with a validity period of 90 days from the date of advertisement. The tender covers all aspects from technical specifications, quality standards, to delivery and documentation requirements.

Technical Requirements

• The triple bevelled stainless steel needle must be flush with a tapered cannula for easy skin passage.
• The cannula must advance easily over the needle, with a definite hub/pusher, and re-engage smoothly during use.
• The cannula tip must not flange and must be kink resistant.
• The hub must taper towards the cannula, be translucent for flash-back observation, and prevent kinking when secured.
• The proximal cap must lock tightly to prevent blood spill during insertion.
• The cannula must be manufactured from radio-opaque, pyrogen-free, latex-free materials such as Teflon, polytetrafluoroethylene, or polyurethane.
• The needle-lock device must securely lock the needle after use, without interfering with cannula advancement or retraction.
• Clinicians should be able to partially withdraw the needle without engaging the lock.
• The safety device must lock automatically without additional action from the clinician.
• The product must be sterile, individually packed in a peel pouch, and comply with ISO 10555 standards.
• The unit of measure is a box of 50 units.
• Samples are required for testing and verification.
