Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure disposable surgical masks to meet the hospital's needs for protective equipment, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and specifications for safety and quality.

Scope

The scope encompasses the supply of 250,000 units of 3-ply disposable surgical masks to Addington Hospital, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. The procurement includes providing samples for evaluation, adhering to specified standards, and delivering the masks within the contractual period. The process involves technical evaluation, compliance verification, and adherence to procurement policies.

Technical Requirements

• Type 2, pleated, disposable surgical face masks with ear-loops, made from three layers of fabric, pleated horizontally.
• Masks must have a nose piece of flexible material for a secure fit and good seal.
• Each box should contain 50 masks, with clear indication of manufacturing date, lot number, batch number, and expiry date.
• Compliance with standards such as SANS 1866-1:2018, EN 14683 Type II, ASTM F2100 Level 1, ISO/TS 16976-8:2013, and other relevant international standards.
• Packaging must include bacterial filtration efficiency, latex content, and classification details.
• Samples must be provided in original packaging for evaluation; masks without original packaging will not be accepted.
