Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to replace ball valves, float valves, and to reconnect water pipes at Mndozo Clinic, including the installation of a new Jojo tank and booster pump, as well as performing maintenance, repairs, and upgrades to existing water infrastructure at Madadeni Hospital and other KwaZulu-Natal health facilities.

Scope

The scope encompasses:

• Supply and installation of new water tanks (e.g., Jojo tanks)
• Replacement of ball valves, float valves, and water pipe reconnections for both old and new elevated water tanks
• Reconnection of water pipes for existing and new tanks
• Installation of booster pumps and associated piping
• Provision of all necessary materials, tools, and equipment compliant with SABS standards
• Site visits, measurements, and technical assessments prior to fabrication
• Commissioning, testing, and ensuring operational functionality of the water systems
• Adherence to safety protocols and preparation of safety plans for the duration of the project

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications include:

• Use of SABS-approved materials for all water system components
• Installation of a new 5000-liter Jojo tank with associated piping and booster pump
• Replacement of stainless steel ball valves (size 40mm) and float switches
• Reconnection of inlet, outlet, and overflow water pipes for both old and new elevated tanks
• Installation of non-return valves and HDPE pipes (size 32mm) for water supply connections
• Provision of electrical connections, including laying power cables (size 10mm, 3-core, 30m long) and outdoor socket outlets
• Testing and commissioning of the entire water supply system to ensure full operational capacity
• Compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards, including safety plans and employment of safety officers

Skills Requirements

The tenderer must demonstrate:

• Sufficient technical expertise and experience in plumbing, water infrastructure installation, and maintenance
• Capability to supply and install water tanks, pumps, and associated piping systems
• Qualified personnel with proven track record in executing similar water system projects
• Availability of necessary equipment and tools to carry out the scope of work
• Ability to conduct site assessments, measurements, and technical inspections
• Compliance with safety regulations, including the employment of a Safety Officer and preparation of safety plans
• Knowledge of South African standards (SABS) and relevant health and safety legislation
