Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to supply materials and replace the existing flood light gum poles with 6-meter x 150mm mid-hinged steel galvanised poles at Catherine Booth Hospital. The project aims to improve lighting infrastructure, enhance safety, and replace faulty floodlights to ensure proper illumination and security within the hospital premises.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Supply and installation of 6-meter galvanised steel mid-hinged swivel flood light poles, including preparation of the site and construction of reinforced concrete bases.
• Removal of existing rotting gum poles and preparation of areas for new poles.
• Installation of floodlights, including connection to weatherproof controls and photocells.
• Replacement of faulty floodlights with 200-watt LED Nano coastal aluminium floodlights.
• Provision of training on lowering and lifting floodlight poles for maintenance purposes.
• Ensuring compliance with relevant standards and safety regulations.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications include:

• Use of heavy-duty, hot-dipped galvanised steel poles suitable for high corrosive environments.
• Construction of concrete bases measuring 500mm x 500mm for each pole.
• Installation of stainless steel bolts and swivel assemblies with counterbalance for safe maintenance.
• Connection of all poles through weatherproof boxes to controls and photocells.
• Replacement floodlights must be 200-watt LED Nano coastal aluminium floodlights with IP65 rating.
• Materials must be SABS approved and conform to relevant standards such as SANS 0142, SANS 10400, and SANS 10252-1&2.
• All work must adhere to Occupational Health and Safety Act, and other applicable regulations.

Skills Requirements

The contractor must demonstrate:

• Qualified and certified artisans and technicians with relevant experience in electrical and structural installations.
• Proof of registration with the Department of Labour, SAQCC certification, and CIDB rating as applicable.
• Competence in handling high-corrosion environments, electrical wiring, and installation of heavy steel structures.
• Ability to perform site measurements accurately and ensure proper installation according to specifications.
• Provision of qualified personnel to supervise and execute the work safely and efficiently.
