Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure services for the connection of the Point of Care Testing (POCT) network at Helen Joseph Laboratory. The service provider is expected to supply, install, and configure the necessary network infrastructure and equipment to establish a reliable POCT network connection that meets the specified technical standards and operational requirements.

Scope

The scope of work includes the supply, delivery, installation, and commissioning of network infrastructure components such as cabinets, patch panels, patch leads, fiber optic cables, trunking, surge protectors, UPS, electrical extensions, and associated hardware. The project covers the setup of network cabinets, cabling (both copper and fiber optic), patching, labeling, and integration with existing systems at Helen Joseph Laboratory. It also involves the configuration of network devices, testing, and ensuring the network's operational readiness.

Technical Requirements

• Supply of a 15U floor-standing network cabinet (800 x 600 mm) with PDU and power extension cords.
• Installation of 6 data points with flash mount and associated patch panels (24-way), brush panels, patch leads, and labeling.
• Provision of surge protected 6-way PDU, Smart UPS 6KVA, and electrical extensions.
• Installation of wire mesh network cable trays and fiber optic cables (OS2 single mode, 4 core, approximately 500 m).
• Provision of double compartment metal trunking, fiber patch panels (12-way LC-LC), splicing, and patch leads.
• Configuration of network devices including Cisco switches and SFP modules, with licenses for DNA and Smart Net Total Care.
• Testing and commissioning of the entire network infrastructure to ensure compliance with technical specifications and operational standards.

Skills Requirements

• Proven experience in network infrastructure installation, particularly in healthcare or laboratory environments.
• Technical expertise in copper and fiber optic cabling, including fiber splicing and patching.
• Knowledge of network hardware such as switches, patch panels, and UPS systems.
• Ability to interpret technical specifications and produce compliant installation and configuration work.
• Project management skills to coordinate installation activities, ensure timely delivery, and manage site safety and quality standards.
• Certification or qualifications in networking, cabling, or related fields (e.g., Cisco certifications, fiber optic training).
• Ability to perform testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning of network systems.
