Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure paper steam sterilization bags of sizes 7 and 12 for Port Shepstone Hospital, ensuring they meet specified standards for medical steam sterilization. The procurement aims to ensure the hospital has adequate sterilization packaging that complies with health and safety standards, supports effective sterilization processes, and adheres to quality certifications.

Scope

The scope includes the supply and delivery of paper sterilization bags in two sizes: 7 and 12. The bags must conform to detailed specifications regarding dimensions, material, printing, packaging, and certification. The procurement covers the entire process from supply, packaging, and delivery to the designated hospital department, with specified quantities per size and packaging requirements.

Technical Requirements

• Size:
  • Size 7: 180mm (width) x 350mm (length), gusset 75mm
  • Size 12: 330mm (width) x 560mm (length), gusset 150mm
• Material: Medical-grade paper suitable for steam sterilization, white in color.
• Printing:
  • Front: "Do not use if wrapper or seal is damaged."
  • Back: Manufacturer's name or trademark, bag size, batch number, contents, autoclaving date, signature of packer, expiry date.
  • Additional printing on back as specified.
• Packaging: 500 bags per box.
• Indicator pattern/band with final color of indicator ink for sterilization validation.
• Container details: Lot number, manufacturing and expiry dates, manufacturer contact info.
• Shelf life: Bidder must specify the shelf life of the bags.
• Standards: Must comply with SABS/SANS certification or equivalent.
• Quantity: Various, as per hospital requirements.
