Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure services for the drilling and installation of a borehole at Princess Mhlosheni Clinic, including the supply and installation of necessary equipment such as pumps, tanks, casing, and electrical components, to ensure reliable water supply for the clinic.

Scope

The scope encompasses:

• Drilling boreholes up to a maximum depth of 120 meters or until clean water is encountered.
• Supply and installation of steel casing, PVC screens, and sand traps.
• Installation of submersible pumps, control boxes, and electrical connections.
• Provision of water tanks (e.g., Jojo tanks) and booster pumps.
• Water quality testing and site cleanup post-installation.
• Preparation of detailed records and reports of drilling activities.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications include:

• Drilling boreholes with telescopic diameters, reamed to at least 8 inches, with concrete grouting for sanitary protection in the first 6 meters.
• Use of Class 10 UPVC casing and slotted screens with specified dimensions and slot sizes.
• Installation of submersible pumps (0.75 kW, 1 HP, 3-phase), control boxes, and steel casing for control units.
• Supply and installation of two 5,000L Jojo tanks with associated fittings and booster pumps.
• Water sampling and testing according to WHO standards, with samples analyzed at approved laboratories.
• Site cleanup and proper disposal of drilling waste and debris.
• Accurate record-keeping of drilling activities, water levels, and test results.

Skills Requirements

The bidder must demonstrate:

• Proven experience in borehole drilling and water well construction, with relevant CIDB grading (e.g., 1ME/1EB/1EP/1CE).
• Technical expertise in selecting appropriate drilling methods, casing, and screen design based on aquifer conditions.
• Qualified personnel, including certified water well drillers and site supervisors.
• Capability to conduct water quality testing in accredited laboratories.
• Ability to prepare detailed activity and water quality reports.
• Compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards, including OHS Act regulations.
• Provision of necessary documentation such as BBBEE certificates, CIDB grading certificates, electrical and plumbing compliance certificates, and tax clearance certificates.
