Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to establish a six-month service contract for the maintenance and servicing of Speed Queen tumble dryers at Appelsbosch Hospital. The service aims to ensure reliable operation, optimal performance, and well-maintained machines to support hospital operations and patient care.

Scope

The scope includes:

• A six-month contractual service to perform monthly inspections, maintenance, and repairs on two Speed Queen tumble dryers.
• Inspection of safety circuits, thermostats, belts, drives, motor directions, and other critical components.
• Testing and ensuring the proper functioning of all machine parts, including exhaust systems and lint filters.
• Providing detailed service reports after each maintenance session.
• Reporting and quoting for any detected defects or repairs needed beyond routine servicing.
• Adhering to specified standards, safety regulations, and manufacturer specifications throughout the service period.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications for the service include:

• Service of two industrial tumble dryers (Speed Queen) on a monthly basis for six months.
• Inspection and testing of safety circuits, thermostats, belts, drives, motor alignment, and exhaust systems.
• Verification of motor directions, lint screens, and exhaust ducting.
• Conducting three test cycles (high, medium, low) to confirm operational integrity.
• Compliance with South African Bureau of Standards (SABS) standards and Occupational Health and Safety Act.
• Provision of a safety file, proof of technician qualifications, and CIDB grading (EB/1ME).
• Use of approved materials and workmanship, with warranties as per manufacturer standards.
• Adherence to the specified period of service and repair, with penalties for non-completion.

Skills Requirements

The service provider must demonstrate:

• Qualified Electricians and Mechanical Technicians with valid certificates.
• Proven experience in servicing industrial laundry equipment, specifically tumble dryers.
• CIDB grading of EB/1ME or higher.
• Ability to work in accordance with South African standards and safety regulations.
• Capability to prepare detailed service reports and provide repair quotations if defects are identified.
• Authorization from original equipment manufacturers (OEM) to work on Speed Queen machines.
• Compliance with health and safety protocols, including submission of a safety plan prior to commencement.
