Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to hire one (1) cherry picker to meet the operational needs of Transnet Port Terminals in Cape Town. The service aims to ensure the provision of a reliable, safe, and compliant cherry picker for a period of six (6) months, supporting maintenance and operational activities at the port.

Scope

The scope includes the provision of a single cherry picker, including all necessary technical specifications, safety standards, and operational requirements as specified in the Schedule of Requirements and Work Orders. The service covers the rental, delivery, operation, maintenance, and eventual removal of the cherry picker at the Cape Town terminals for the specified period. Proper management of personnel, compliance with safety and legal standards, and adherence to contractual obligations are also within scope.

Technical Requirements

• The cherry picker must meet all safety, operational, and technical specifications outlined in Schedule 1.
• The equipment should be in good working condition, compliant with South African safety and operational standards.
• The service provider must ensure the cherry picker is properly maintained and serviced throughout the rental period.
• The cherry picker must be suitable for use in port terminal environments, including adherence to railway safety and other relevant regulations.
• The provider must supply qualified personnel for operation and maintenance as required.
• The equipment and personnel must comply with all applicable laws, safety standards, and Transnet policies.

Skills Requirements

• Qualified operators with relevant certifications and experience in operating cherry pickers in port or industrial environments.
• Personnel trained in safety procedures, including adherence to occupational health and safety legislation.
• Technical staff capable of performing routine maintenance and troubleshooting on the cherry picker.
• Personnel must demonstrate understanding of railway safety and port terminal operational standards.
• Service provider staff should exhibit professionalism, courtesy, and compliance with Transnet’s conduct and confidentiality policies.
