Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure central venous catheter sets, specifically 5fr x 8cm, to meet the clinical needs of Grey’s Hospital under the Department of Health in KwaZulu-Natal. The procurement aims to ensure the supply of high-quality, sterile, and compliant catheter sets suitable for pediatric and adult patients, supporting various medical procedures such as infusions, TPN, chemotherapy, and acidic medication administration.

Scope

The scope encompasses the supply of:

• Central venous catheter sets 5fr x 8cm and 5fr x 5fr
• Paediatric (Paed) and standard (adult) catheter specifications
• Additional accessories including guide wires, introducer needles, dilators, dust caps, adjustable hubs, and clamps
• Compliance with detailed technical specifications and quality standards as outlined in the annexure and specification forms
• Delivery to Grey’s Hospital, Townbush Road, Pietermaritzburg, within the contractual period

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Catheters impregnated with chlorhexidine and silver sulfadiazine for antimicrobial protection
• Two-lumen design with specified size (5fr x 8cm and 5fr x 5cm)
• Accessories such as guide wires, introducer needles, dilators, dust caps, adjustable hubs, and clamps
• Compliance with SANC registration (e.g., SANC No. 14485956)
• Adherence to specified quality standards, packaging, and sterilization requirements
• Samples for evaluation and demonstration of conformity to specifications
• Provision of detailed product specifications, including size, material, and packaging

Skills and Qualification Requirements

The tenderer must demonstrate:

• Legal authorization and registration to manufacture, import, or distribute medical devices, evidenced by valid licenses from the South African Health Products Regulatory Authority (SAHPRA)
• Experience in supplying sterile medical devices, particularly central venous catheters
• Capability to provide technical documentation, product samples, and quality assurance certificates
• Understanding of procurement policies, including compliance with the Preferential Procurement Regulations 2022 and the Department’s evaluation criteria
• Ability to meet delivery deadlines, technical specifications, and quality standards as specified in the tender documents
• Provision of proof for preference points claim, such as BBBEE status verification certificates
