Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to appoint a qualified service provider to deliver comprehensive medical services at Seshego Treatment Centre for a period of thirty-six (36) months. The aim is to ensure effective medical support for service users admitted into the substance abuse treatment program, facilitating screening, admission, ongoing care, and discharge processes, thereby improving access to substance abuse treatment services within the Department of Social Development in Limpopo.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Providing medical services to service users from screening through to discharge.
• Conducting medical consultations for up to twenty (20) hours per week.
• Maintaining ethical standards as prescribed by the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).
• Keeping attendance registers and ensuring timely medical interventions.
• Reporting to Seshego Treatment Centre and participating in meetings as required.
• Providing proof of contracts with Medical Practitioners and ensuring confidentiality of all information.
• Providing alternative Medical Practitioners in case of unavailability.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements for the service provider include:

• Registration with the HPCSA as an independent medical practitioner, renewable annually.
• Proven experience in rendering clinical medical services, with at least five (5) years of relevant practice.
• Ability to analyze clinical information and determine plausibility of medical statements.
• Proof of vehicle ownership or lease agreement for transportation to the treatment centre.
• Compliance with legal and ethical standards, including no criminal convictions or disciplinary actions related to medical misconduct.
• Provision of continuous professional development (CPD) in substance addiction area every six months.
• Capacity to provide alternative qualified Medical Practitioners for deployment.

Skills Requirements

The skills and qualifications required from the service provider include:

• Registered medical practitioners with current HPCSA registration.
• Experience in substance abuse treatment and clinical service provision.
• Ability to analyze clinical data and provide accurate medical assessments.
• Good ethical conduct and adherence to HPCSA guidelines.
• Effective communication and reporting skills.
• Capacity to work collaboratively with Departmental officials and stakeholders.
• Provision of reliable transportation and administrative support.
