Objectives

The primary objective of this procurement is to appoint a reputable electrical contractor to assess, repair, and replace components of generators at Cape Town International Airport. Specifically, the contractor will evaluate low voltage electrical installations, assess damages, and undertake repairs of the South Generator and North Generator No.3 Radiator Replacement, ensuring compliance with standards and safety requirements.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• North Generator No.3: Supply, delivery, installation, and testing of a replacement radiator.
• South Generator: Rigging, transportation to workshop, damage assessment, detailed reporting, complete repairs including replacement of damaged parts, reinstallation, testing, and recommissioning.
• Electrical Assessments: Thorough assessment of all low voltage electrical installations across the airport, ensuring compliance with SANS 10142-1.
• Additional activities: Site assessments, safety and environmental compliance, quality assurance, and coordination with airport stakeholders.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements encompass:

• Provision of quality materials, plant, and equipment compliant with SANS standards.
• Assessment and repair of generator damages with detailed reporting.
• Installation, testing, and commissioning of replacement radiators.
• Assessment of low voltage electrical installations for compliance with SANS 10142-1.
• Implementation of safety, health, and environmental standards as per Annexure B.
• Use of qualified personnel for testing, inspection, and repairs.
• Proper documentation, including work methodology, quality plans, and maintenance records.

Skills and Competency Requirements

The contractor must demonstrate:

• Proven experience in electrical assessments, generator repairs, and radiator replacements at large facilities or airports.
• Qualified personnel with relevant certifications and skills in electrical engineering, mechanical repairs, and safety standards.
• Ability to conduct detailed damage assessments and produce comprehensive reports.
• Capability to manage site activities, coordinate with airport stakeholders, and adhere to safety and environmental protocols.
• Compliance with OEM warranties and standards for spare parts and equipment.
• Experience in working within regulated environments, including airside operations and security procedures.
