Objectives

The primary objectives of the tender are to:

• Accredit suitable qualified Independent Health Practitioners to conduct assessments for disability-related grants on behalf of the Agency.
• Enhance access to medical assessment services for applicants within a predetermined timeline of four (4) weeks.
• Improve the quality of assessments conducted by accredited practitioners.

Scope

The scope of the tender includes:

• Accreditation of registered health practitioners such as Medical Practitioners, Clinical Associates, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Audiologists, Speech Therapists, and Psychologists in the Western Cape region.
• Attendance at compulsory training sessions organized by the Agency.
• Conducting assessments on scheduled clients at designated assessment sites within the Western Cape or home-based assessments for clients with special needs.
• Maintaining accurate records of assessments and submitting completed registers.
• Refer clients for additional services if required and invoice the Agency monthly for assessments performed.
• Adhering to confidentiality and other professional obligations.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Current registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) indicating active status.
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant working experience as a health practitioner.
• Participation in all compulsory training sessions.
• Conducting assessments not exceeding 40 per day unless otherwise instructed.
• Strict confidentiality and compliance with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
• Ability to conduct home assessments for clients unable to visit assessment sites.
• Timely submission of completed assessment registers and invoices.

Skills Requirements

The skills and qualifications required for bidders include:

• Registration and active practice status with HPCSA.
• At least 2 years of professional experience in relevant health assessments.
• Ability to perform assessments accurately and efficiently within set timeframes.
• Good record-keeping and reporting skills.
• Confidentiality and ethical practice in line with professional standards.
• Capacity to conduct assessments at designated sites and home-based evaluations when necessary.
• Effective communication skills for liaising with the Agency and clients.
